Pouch of Douglas is a small area present between the uterus and rectum in females. It is a site where the infection and fluid get collected. It is also called a rectouterine pouch. Having a small amount of fluid is normal, and it needs to be drained if it has blood or pus. Blood can occur due to ectopic pregnancy or ruptured cyst. It is normal to have 1 to 3 ml of fluid in it during the menstrual cycle, and after ovulation, there is the presence of 4 to 5 ml of fluid.
