Angiography is an imaging technique that is used to visualize blood vessels and heart chambers after injecting a radiopaque dye. Here, a radiopaque contrast agent is first injected into the blood vessel, and this dye can be seen passing through the blood vessels in x-rays taken using fluoroscopy. Coronary angiography is carried to detect the presence of blockage in the blood vessels supplying the heart. The procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes. The other types of angiography are fluorescein angiography, microangiography, neurovascular angiography, and peripheral angiography.
