About "Carcinoma"
The type of cancer that develops from the epithelial cell of the skin or the lining of organs is called carcinoma. They can spread to other parts of the body. Here, the epithelial cells divide without control and form cancer. The most common types of carcinomas are:
- Basal cell carcinoma – Cancer of the basal layer of the skin, which is present deep in the skin.
- Squamous cell carcinoma – Cancer of the squamous cell, which makes most of the top portion of the skin.
- Adenocarcinoma – Cancer that forms in the glands.
- Renal cell carcinoma – Type of kidney cancer.
- Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) – Cancer in the inside of the milk ducts that are seen in the breasts.
- Invasive ductal carcinoma – Cancer that begins inside the milk gland and spreads outside to the fibrous and fatty tissue of the breast.
Depending on the type and stage of cancer, the treatment options include surgical excision, curettage, cryosurgery, topical chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and laser therapy.
