Also called as contact eczema is a skin condition caused by irritants that cause an allergic reaction (allergic type) or simply damages the outer layer of skin (irritant type) like shampoos, metal, plants, bleach, etc. The symptoms include a red rash, itchiness, scaly dry skin, swelling, blisters, pain or tenderness, burning sensation. When you observe a sudden reaction with associated fever or pus discharge, it is advisable to get medical help immediately. The treatment and prevention involve the application of moisturizer, not scratching, washing, etc. If needed drug therapy can be done based on doctor's advice.
