About "Seborrheic dermatitis"
Commonly called as dandruff is a dermatological condition in which there is a formation of scales and redness which is mostly seen on the scalp but can affect any oily surface of the body. The other names include seborrheic eczema, crib cap (in kids). It can be caused due to either fungal infection or the body's immune response, genetic or stress. The other symptoms include redness and itchiness and can aggravate in oily skin or cold conditions. It usually goes away on its own but medicated topical agents may be necessary for the management like antifungals, daily cleansing with mild soap or shampoo, etc.
