Know How Our Oral Surgeon Helped a Patient Who Had a White Lesion in the Mouth

A patient who had white lines on the cheeks consulted our oral surgeon after receiving multiple opinions on the same from multiple dentists. The patient also enquired if a biopsy was required and also attached photos of the condition.

He prompted the patient to get regular oral prophylaxis once in six months or a year. He also said that if the lesion did not heal in a month’s time, the patient had to get it examined and probably undergo a biopsy.

The patient reverted, saying that there was no pain or discomfort in that area. The patient also mentioned that the lesion disappeared when stretched outwards and also questioned if it could be leukoedema. The patient also gave a history of applying a paste and a gel meant to be used for ulcers.

Our doctor went through the query and seconded the possibility of it being a leukoedema. He also suggested continuing the gel and discontinuing the paste the patient was using. He assured that maintaining proper oral hygiene was sufficient and advised the patient to take omega fatty acid supplements at least thrice a week along with consuming a diet focusing on boosting immunity. Our doctor also requested to strictly avoid habits such as smoking and alcohol if the patient had any. He also requested the patient to revert if there were any other doubts.
