Know How Our iCliniq Doctor Helped a Patient Who Suffered an Ear Block After a Firework Went off Close to His Ears

#icliniq100hrs success story

A patient who had experienced an unexpected firework burst near his ears consulted our iCliniq doctor and said that he suffered clogged ears due to those loud sounds. He mentioned that he had consulted a doctor who found his eardrums to be fine. He then gave a history of taking antihypertensive medications and water pills and also, assured our doctor that he had a healthy ear otherwise.

Our iCliniq doctor after reading through the patient’s query responded saying that exposure to loud sounds could result in acoustic trauma. He requested the patient to add further information regarding how long he had such symptoms, if he was prescribed any medications, and if he had any symptoms like ear pain or giddiness.

The patient reverted to our doctor’s questions saying that the incident had taken place a few days back before the consultation. He briefed about his symptoms saying, the symptoms got better if he lied down or if he pulled his ears and also that his other ear was blocked with ear wax. He said no to our doctor’s question on if he was prescribed any medications. He added information about the drugs he took for his other medical conditions. He stated that he did not feel any ear pain or giddiness except that he initially heard a loud constant ring in his ears.

Our iCliniq doctor after analyzing the patient’s history suspected the patient to be experiencing a temporary threshold shift or noise-induced hearing loss. He then assured the patient the condition was very much temporary and that it would become fine in a maximum of two weeks' time since noise exposure. He also explained to the patient that the condition could have resulted from damage to certain inner ear structures. He asked the patient not to worry and asked if he could get a simple hearing assessment called an audiogram that detected the actual hearing changes. He also advised a few short-course medications to the patient.

The patient reverted saying that he would get the test done and asked if he needed to consult his doctor before taking the medications our doctor prescribed as he was told to wait by the specific doctor.

Our doctor approved the patient’s request of consulting his doctor as it was the best thing to do and asked the patient to avoid hearing sounds or using earphones in his affected ear. He also asked the patient to revert quickly with the requested test reports to not hamper the treatment delivery and recovery.

The patient reverted saying that our doctor’s suggestions and medications provided him relief and commented on it to be a wonderful experience. He also rated his experience with our iCliniq doctor a five on five.
