Acid peptic disease is caused by some condition causing excessive acid secretion or reduced mucosal defense. Excess secretion of stomach acids causes peptic ulcers. The types of peptic ulcers are gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. The causes of acid peptic disease are H.pylori infection, indiscriminate use of painkillers, smoking, alcoholism, family history, too much stress, and spicy food. The symptoms include bloating, belching, heartburn, nausea, indigestion, and chest pain. Medicines used to treat the acid peptic disease are antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, histamine blockers, and antacids.
