Cancer that originates in the cells of the liver is called primary liver cancer, and the cancer caused by cells that spread from other organs to the liver is called secondary liver cancer. Depending on the liver cells that the tumor originated from, the different types are hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, liver angiosarcoma, and hepatoblastoma. Some of the symptoms seen are abdominal pain and tenderness, jaundice, chalky stools, nausea, vomiting, bruising easily, and fatigue. Depending on how well your liver is functioning, the location of the tumor, presence of cirrhosis, and metastasis, the treatment options are hepatectomy (partial or total removal of the liver), liver transplant, ablation, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and targeted therapy.
