Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the myelin (insulating cover of nerve cells) in the brain and spinal cord, resulting in problems with balance, muscle control, and other body functions. It can also damage the optic nerve causing vision problems. This damage to the myelin makes the brain unable to send signals throughout the body, resulting in the nerves not functioning correctly. Some of the symptoms are difficulty walking, feeling tired, muscle weakness, blurred vision, pain, depression, poor bowel and bladder control, and sexual problems. There is no cure for this disease, and the treatment aims to slow the progression and manage the symptoms.
