About "febrile seizures"
Convulsions that occur when a child has a fever is called febrile seizures. They can last for a few minutes or longer. They usually stop without any treatment and do not cause any other health problems. The two types of febrile seizures are:
1. Simple febrile seizures – They are the most common type. They last for a few minutes up to 10 minutes. Here, the child might convulse all over, roll the eyes, pass out, and vomit or urinate during the seizures.
2. Complex febrile seizures – They last longer than 10 minutes, and can happen more than once in 24 hours. It usually involves twitching of only one part or one side of the body.
