Itchy skin can become physically and mentally irritating. It is not very healthy and scratching in public is something that is frowned upon. There are several causes of itchy skin. Your skin might mostly appear normal but sometimes show signs of irritation. Here are a few common reasons that cause itchy skin.

1. Dry Skin

Dryness is one of the very common reasons for skin itching. When the air around you loses moisture, it also reflects in your skin. This is more prominent during the winter. Try to keep your skin hydrated on a regular basis to avoid itching.

2. Skin Irritant

In the present situation, our skin regularly comes into contact with several chemicals even while using household products. People with sensitive skin are prone to suffer from itching caused due to irritation from using these products on a regular basis.

3. Illnesses

Certain types of illness will result in skin irritation. Measles, chickenpox and smallpox are a few examples. These diseases usually result in severe rashes on your skin hence causing severe itching on your skin.

4. Insect Bites

Insect bites usually cause itching on a specific area of the skin. In certain cases, it might spread to other parts of your skin as well. Mosquito bites and spider bites react on your skin instantly causing itching int the specific areas. This is a result of chemicals that enter into our body when the insects bite.

5. Pregnancy

Pregnant women usually suffer from itchy skin. It is more prominent if they already have sensitive skin as well. This is the result of hormonal changes that occur in their body while they became pregnant.

6. Diseases

Other than illnesses related to skin a few other diseases can also lead you to have itching in your skin. Anemia, celiac disease and kidney disease are a few of the examples. A few types of cancer are also known to cause skin itching as one of the side effects.
