Wish you a happy and Healthy Diwali – 2017

Diwali – This is one of those situations when your mother never says ‘no’ to another serving of sweets. But! that isn’t what your health is going to say too. We are not here to say ‘no’ to sweets. We are only here to tell you how you can enjoy a little more by having a little less.

Here are a few measures you can take to stay healthy.

1. Take smaller bites

Take smaller bites:- Stick to small portions or servings. Instead of always getting your tummy full, have a small bite now and then and let your tummy stay a little empty all the time. Take up the time to chew the food and enjoy it a bit longer. By taking up the time to chew, you also decrease your calorie intake.

2. Eat homemade sweets

Eat homemade sweets:- Sticking to homemade sweets reduces your calorie intake by at least 25%. Packed sweets come along with added preservatives so that they last longer. Increased intake of such preservatives can result in water retention. These homemade sweets also come along with a definite assurance of quality.

3. Increase your water intake

Increase your water intake:- Whenever you feel like having a bite, remember it is equally important to have a sip as well. If plain water is too mainstream, you can also substitute it with tender coconut, lemon & mint or even a low-calorie smoothie. It is essential that your body is properly hydrated to digest all this sweet festive goodness.

4. Avoid Alcohol

Avoid Alcohol:- Just like sweets, it is wise to keep your alcohol limits in check too. Choose healthy snack like nuts and fruit salads.

5. Walk as much as you can

Walk as much as you can:- Increased physical activity helps you burn the extra calories you have gained. We are not talking about hitting the gym; minor changes like taking the stairs, a small jog around the street and a little stretching would do the trick.
