A 35 year old married male complained of dryness, burning, mild itching and redness over his penile skin. The penile skin has become rough with no or very less scaliness. The penile skin seems to get ruptured on and off and leaves small rash which causes burning whenever he touches that spot. No burning while passing urine.
He used Clotrimazole ointment for a month which helped reduce the rash and dryness to some extent. However, it is not completely gone.
He masturbates once a day and is a sexually active man.
The photos have been attached here for more clarification. Could you please let me know what can be the diagnosis in this case?
Genital psoriasis: Unlike psoriasis patches on other parts of the body, genital psoriasis tends not to be scaly. It can, however, give the appearance of peeling, raw skin.
Or friction may cause due to masturbation or intercourse leads to irritation of the penis may occur,
and wearing tight pants with out under ware also causes friction causes skin become flaky and bleeding may occur.
Thrush (yeast infection) causing skin become flaky, red and red rashes on glans.
Its contact dermatitis because of dry skin of the penis as well frequent friction due to daily masturbation. He can be off from this habit for a few days , almost a week, and use lubricants thereafter. Moisturizing creams is of much benefit.
Hi
Thank you all for the response.
Just a quick question, he seem to be having shiny and glazy skin along with red rashes on the glans. Would that be due to psoriasis or dermatitis or something else? Kindly advise on this. Thank you.
Hello, Doctor good morning, it is due to psoriasis.
If it is due to irritation, it may disappear after removing tight underwater. But it appearing repeatedly. Initial stage there is rash may be present with or without scales. According to me it is psoriasis.
