I usually prescribe oral antiviral therapy and pain killers in such cases. It might last a bit more if the left side groin is affected.
Burning pain will persist even for several weeks or months after treatment, with no visible lesion. In such cases, I usually prescribe pregabalin or gabapentin as he is diabetic together with vitamins of b group.
Hello Ritu,
Diabetes being a immunocompromised state ,the patients tend to be at a higher risk of infections ,and herpes is one of them .
The patient needs to get a FBS and a PPBS ,along with a HbA1c levels done to adjust the medications.
For the Neuropathic pain caused due to herpes ,Pregabalin or gabapentin along with a local capsaicin ointment is best ,it tends to remain for a few weeks before it could subside .
