Answered by Dr. Pandey Supriya Nagendra

Is it possible to get irregular periods with ovulation issues due to hormonal problems?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Your condition is known as PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease). It has the following features; ovarian follicles are not fully functional and they do not produce the adequate hormone. This disease also has insulin resistance (a hormone which decreases glucose by increasing its breakdown) which leads to an increase in weight of the patient. Your doctor might be giving you a course of oral contraceptive pills for irregular menses.
