In diabetes, milk and milk products (skimmed milk) like cottage cheese, curd, etc., are recommended. Cereals with bran should be eaten such as wheat, rice, maize, oats, etc. Intake of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat sources such as olive, walnut, groundnut and avocado are helpful.
Lukewarm water should be taken instead of cold water as that will help with weight loss.
Foods to Avoid in Diabetics:
- A diabetic person should not eat underground roots, tubers and starched foods like rice, white flour, corn flour, etc.
- Should avoid all cold drinks, egg yolk, margarine, cheese, ghee, butter, fat, jam, jelly, pizza, burger, etc.
- Should avoid red meat as that is loaded with saturated fats.
- Spicy foods and sweets like cake, pastries, cookies, chocolates, pudding, ice cream, high calorie snacks and deep fries are restricted.
- Freshly made foods should be consumed and avoid consuming canned foods as they are high in preservatives.
- Also, should avoid taking water in between meals and immediately after meals. There should be a minimum gap of half an hour.
