Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from severe stabbing abdominal pain on the right side, radiating to the back and right leg.

Abdomen US shows gallbladder polyps 7 mm each.

Albumin 53 g/l (elevated).

Protein 83g/l (elevated).

Total cholesterol 5.7 mmol/l.

Triglycerides 3.4 mmol/l.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Can you answer a few of my following questions.

Since how long you are having such pain? Is this pain tolerable? How much you grade it out of 10? Do you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation? Do you have any prior history of hypertension? If yes, which medication do you use? Have you ever checked your cholesterol before?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have this pain for the last one week. My pain is 5-6/10. I have persistent nausea with constipation and on and off diarrhea. I do not have hypertension and my usual readings are 127/83 mmHg. Earlier my cholesterol was normal. Just yesterday my cholesterol values went high. I have attached my blood results. Please check.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I think that your symptoms are not due to gallbladder polyp. Just do follow up ultrasound 6 monthly and monitor the polyp size. You may be advised cholecystectomy if the polyp size increase to 10 mm.

I will advise a few medicine for your symptoms and will advise to increase your fiber intake and exercise for your cholesterol and hypertension management.

Treatment plan

Capsule Omeprazole 40 mg once daily 30 minutes before breakfast for four weeks, tablet Mebeverine 135 mg thrice daily for a month.

Preventive measures

Follow up every six months ultrasound for GB polyp. Increase fiber intake. Do regular exercise.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
