Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had an abortion pill with withdrawal bleeding and took a pregnancy test which came negative. Then I had another tablet to induce periods for five days twice a day. And the course of this ended recently. I still have not got my period and I am really anxious and worried. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Why are you worried if you had the bleeding and pregnancy test was negative? You are definitely not pregnant. The abortion pill is a high dose of progesterone hormone, so that it might have disturbed your hormonal balance, which may take one to two months to normalize. After the course of Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone acetate), you will have periods within 7 to 14 days, which means you will have periods within the next week. This anxiety itself can postpone periods by preventing ovulation. The inner lining of the uterus, may not have built up enough to bleed. If you do not have bleeding in the next week, take any of the birth control pills one tablet twice daily for ten days. There will be 21 pills in the packet. Throw away the 21st pill. You will definitely have periods within the next 7 to 10 days. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
