Acetylcystine

Acetylcysteine is a drug used to loosen up the mucus present inside the airways. When one has inflammatory lung conditions like pneumonia or bronchitis, thick mucus may be produced. And it coats the inner walls of the airways obstructing the breathing process. Acetylcysteine can loosen up this mucus and reduce the symptom. It is also used to treat poising from overdosage of the drug Paracetamol.
