Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been struggling with acne in my T-zone for all of my teen years. I have currently set down a skincare routine that is doing wonders for the tiny little textured spots on my skin but not so much on bright red and dark acne scars. I have done some research on what it was, and I think it might be PHI. I am looking for advice on what can for sure help reverse the damaged skin.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Acne vulgaris is a common problem in your age group. Acne flares occur due to stress, hormonal imbalance, oily skin, and diet. It is good to know that you are following a skincare routine, but make sure they do not contain any harsh chemicals, parabens, fragrances, steroids, or Hydroquinones. Use non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic skincare products. You should also eat a healthy diet and avoid milk and milk products, sugary, oily, or fried stuff. Emotional stress can also cause outbreaks, so try to be stress-free. I think you meant PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). This occurs after an acne lesion heals. It takes some time to go away. In the meantime, you should apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or above 30 minutes before going out during the day time daily. You can use vitamin C serum at night time after washing your face and before applying moisturizer. It will help in fading the red and black spots over your face. I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
