Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My sister has pimple-like acne on her face. She used neem face wash to treat it but had no success. Please tell me any good medicine for this. Please note that the pimple stays on the face as it is for a long time. I am sharing photos for better understanding. Please help.

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

As per the history and the photos provided (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), the current face wash which your sister is using is not medicated. To treat acne, medicated products are needed to break down the bacterial contamination and reduce sebum secretion. Firstly, I would like to brief you about the issue to get an idea regarding the same. Acne is caused due to a number of factors, including hormonal fluctuations, diet, hydration, women- ovarian syndromes, which are characterized by irregularities in the menstrual cycle, skin type, and genetics. For your sister, please ensure her periods are regular. If there are irregularities, please consult a gynaecologist for medication.

As of now, I suggest you follow the below steps,

1. Start Cipla saslic DS (Salicylic acid) face wash in the morning and night. Apply the face wash and gently massage on face and wash off within one minute.

2. Apply Peroclin 2.5% (Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% and Clindamycin 1%) gel on the pimples in the morning and at night after face wash.

3. Take Limcee 500 mg (vitamin C) chewable tablet after food at night daily for one month.

4. Avoid oily food, sweets, milk, and dairy products, and consume at least ten glasses of water a day.

I suggest you follow-up after one month to check the progress.

I hope this helps.
