Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old. I am suffering from acne. I used to get acne when I was in high school, but there was nothing unusual and it was never a problem. Around two years back, I started getting lots of acne and it is continuing till now. Most of the acne develops on the cheeks. The acne appears as whiteheads and pimples on the cheek. Sometimes, it also occurs on the chin and forehead. I do not have a full beard and I feel that might be a reason. Sometimes, about 80 % of the acne disappears and sometimes, it gets too bad. I have used different products before. Now, I am using a cleaner and coconut oil. My face is oily, but it gets dry too. Currently, I am using Zinc pills and coconut oil. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have examined your photograph (attachments removed to protect patient identity) and noted your details.

I see a lot of patients with history and appearance matching that of yours and they all report very good results with the following action plan.

  1. Frequent washing of the face to clear off oily secretions.
  2. Using topical Clindamycin preparations.
  3. Taking oral antibiotics like Doxycycline or Minocycline.
  4. Controlling dandruff, if present.

In some cases, retinoids are indicated, but the first line of defense still remains the use of antibiotics. Please consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicine with consent. Having a beard does not affect the presence of acne. Acne is known to heal by themselves and reappear after some time.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
