What are the ways to treat acne and oily skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Could you please suggest how I can effectively address my acne issue and clear my oily face? I have been struggling with acne since I was 13 years old.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Acne occurs due to multiple reasons, including genetic susceptibility, hormonal fluctuations, changes in diet, location changes, stress, issues of dandruff, depending on the skin type, skin care products being used, sleep irregularities, and so on. Since you are young, there may be a possibility of on-and-off acne till you reach your early or mid-30s. However, I will be starting some medications and products for getting clearer skin.

I would highly appreciate it if you could provide clear images of the affected area to understand the severity of the acne better.

Advice :

1. Salicyclic acid with glycolic acid foaming face wash: Use two pumps and massage on wet face for 15 seconds and wash off. Use in the morning and evening.

2. Clindamycin benzoyl peroxide gel: Apply by dotting this gel on the pimples and dab in for absorption. Use in the morning after cleansing the face.

3. Clindamycin adapalene gel: Use by dotting on the pimples and dabbing in for absorption at night after using the face wash.

4. Sodium hyaluronate and allantoin gel: May be used on top of the medicated gels twice daily as a moisturizer if the face feels dry.

5. Doxycycline and Lactobacillus capsules: Take one capsule in the morning and one at night for seven days after food.

6. Tablet Pantoparazol: Take one tablet before breakfast and one before dinner for seven days.

7. Sunscreen SPF 50: Apply this sunscreen every four hours when going out.

8. Avoid oily and fried food sweets red meat milk and fast food. Consume more fruits vegetable fiber yogurt and at least 3.5 liters of water per day.

9. Chemical peels from a skin clinic once a month may be considered for reducing the oil secretion from the skin.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
