Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I think I have some mental issues. I have self-diagnosed myself by reading a lot about a disorder and seeing what people who have it suffer from and relate it to me. I wrote my symptoms which are all things that happen to me daily, and I think I am not normal by doing these things. So I want a diagnosis based on these symptoms without providing you with what I self-diagnosed myself in order to prevent limiting your thoughts on one mental illness.

Here are my symptoms :

  1. I cannot stand to wait in a line, and I prefer spending time on alternatives than waiting in line.
  2. I cannot stand driving on a busy road, and I prefer driving an hour on a long alternative road to waiting 5 minutes in traffic.
  3. I tend to make very fast decisions without even looking for better alternatives and stay blaming myself for why I took the decision this fast, and I become really frustrated that my decision should have an effect now. For example, when I wanted to buy a car, I had only one option on my mind, and I did everything I could to finish everything related to the purchasing procedure fast. I even asked to receive my car immediately after I completed the paperwork, and I blame myself regularly for buying this car because I could have got a better one. This happens in most of my decisions, either at work or personal life.
  4. I cannot stand being at home doing anything, even if I have some work to complete on my laptop. I become really stressed that I want to find something to do outside or to find a friend to go outside with.
  5. I cannot stand hearing someone talking for a long time in a conversation or a meeting, but I do not have a problem talking for a long time (I talk only If I am very comfortable with the person only).
  6. I cannot focus on one thing, and I get distracted easily.
  7. I cannot organize my time even though I try to put schedules but find it really hard to stick to them.
  8. I cannot wake up early (I wake up but cannot get out of bed) to go to work during the periods that I do not have the motivation that I am working on something I love and enjoy that day or if the day does not contain something I really enjoy. To avoid that, I have to plan something with someone at a certain time in order to force myself.
  9. I get really angry and stressed if I am late for an appointment by one minute, and I get angry at someone for letting me wait for one minute at their door.
  10. I forget things even if someone told me about them an hour ago, and I even have problems remembering what I did during my day.
  11. I lost a lot of friendships due to forgetting about someone entirely for a long time even though he means so much to me, and I get angry and feel disrespected if a friend could not be with me when I ask him (even if I am asking him to go with me everyday to something that is not important, I feel disrespected if he does not go with me or answer on my messages or phone every time and fast).
  12. I am very sensitive, but I do not feel that I have that feeling for others, like that I think that a friend is really important, but I also think that if that this person dies, I would not even think about it (and I do not know if this is real).
  13. I am the first one who leaves the exam when it is allowed as I cannot stand staying in that situation, and I get out once I finish the minimum that I can get to succeed even though I can continue and solve more, and I do not review any exam if I am allowed to go out I prefer to take the opportunity and leave the exam even if revising will get me better marks.
  14. Anything that needs continuous mental effort, I cannot complete, even if it is a game.
  15. I tend to leave things that are important undone for a long time because I forget them and do not remember them or continuously procrastinate. For example, I needed to buy new glasses, and I did it after one month just because I had some free time and was near a store, even though not having eyeglass affects me a lot.
  16. I cannot do any routine things like brushing my teeth even though the toothbrush is on my mirror always, praying, and going to the gym each day even though it is near my office. I cannot do these things for two days in a row.
  17. I have a medical condition in my feet, and it is hurting me every day, but I procrastinated going to a doctor for three months.
  18. I cannot focus on something even if they are talking to me directly, and I get distracted by anything like a window behind the person or with anything else while they are speaking, and suddenly I get back to focus and realize that I did not get anything from what they said, but I do eye contact because I am used to it.
  19. I cannot do multiple simple things at one time; if someone talks to me while I am writing something, I cannot focus on his question and continue writing, and I forget what I was writing.
  20. I am really focused while driving even though I am always in a hurry and at a fast speed, and I get very angry if someone is driving slowly in front of me. I make sure to get loud to that person and stay stressed till I get to the destination.
  21. I tend to make mistakes because of not concentrating, and when I discover I cannot give any effort to fix it, I leave it as it is if I think that I will only cause a small problem.
  22. When someone asks me something, I answer even if they are still talking. I think in my mind with an answer immediately and change it multiple times before they finish the question.
  23. I work on things usually after everyone leaves the office and cannot focus on them during the workday.
  24. In school or university, most of the time, I have answers to the question, but I do not say anything even if I hear a lot of wrong answers. I want to answer, but I do not have the courage.
  25. I cannot look for something in multiple places like shopping for something.
  26. The internal feeling that I want to be perfect makes me depressed.
  27. I hate selecting clothes and instead I prefer to wear the same outfit as long as it is still clean.
  28. I cannot work under a manager.
  29. Most of the time, I sleep after more than an hour or two of lying in bed because of overthinking.
  30. I get a lot of situations when I forget things while I am doing it, for example, If I am going to the supermarket just to buy one thing, I forget what I was going to get, or I search for my glasses while I am wearing it, or search for my mobile while talking on the phone.
  31. It is very difficult to play group games like football, but I really want to be in communities.
  32. If I play sports at the beginning of the day, my whole day is better and more productive, and I achieve more.

Please tell me what I have, or if it is just normal things and I am making a huge issue from normal things.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Actually, everything is absolutely fine. I have gone through every single paragraph, and everything is fine. You are just an over-thinker and an introvert which is normal. Actually, most people have become like this nowadays because of social media and all because there is a communication gap between people now. So friendships are vanishing, people do not involve in things, and they like to be in their comfort zone. It is the same with everyone. You just have to be calm and do daily routine work as you are doing. Just do daily exercises and meditation for 10 to 15 minutes; it will help calm down the mind. If you make mediation a habit, then you will not forget things easily, you will be able to focus more, and it will help you a lot. Everyone is going through the same, so please do not blame or make a conclusion that you might have some mental issues. It is absolutely normal. Please do not worry and one more thing, stop searching on the internet, the information you are getting is not true, and it is not the same for every person, everyone has a different body and mind, so internet symptoms are not true. Believe in your doctor. Can you please tell me what medical illnesses you have?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I think I have ADHD (inattentive type).

Answered by Dr. Sugreev Singh

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, you do not have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). The symptoms you are experiencing are absolutely normal, and almost everyone experiences them throughout the day due to small stress or thoughts. So do not worry. Just regular exercise and meditation will help. Meditation releases serotonin and dopamine hormones which make us feel better.

If anything else, please let me know

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
