Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Without knowing I am pregnant, I have taken alcohol for three days. Will this affect the baby?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The first trimester is the period most sensitive to the effect of alcohol on the developing fetus. Therefore, you shall undergo all major scans and blood reports when necessary. There is no safe amount or safe time for alcohol. Sometimes even a low level of alcohol harms the fetus, and sometimes a high level does not. However, there can be effects on the growing fetus in mostly all cases. Alcohol will affect brain development and some facial defects if it affects the fetus. If you have already stopped alcohol, then well and good, but do not drink even a small amount now.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
