Hello doctor,
My daughter is three years old and weighs 13 kg. She has been diagnosed with a chronic allergic cough. It has been there since over a month, aggravating and subsiding with medicines. As per her pediatrician's advice, I gave her Levolin Plus for seven days, and then when the cough did not subside, they advised syrup Chericof and Montair LC. After that, she felt better; however, occasionally, she gets a wet cough. Since yesterday there has been a sudden increase in the cough. We got our house freshly painted, so I thought it could be the reason. Currently, she has been prescribed syrup Tuspel Plus. Is it fine to give her so many medicines?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Allergy is almost impossible to eradicate, and the treatment is to avoid allergens like dust, smoke, and smells. If she has a wet cough, she has a bacterial infection which can be controlled with Cefpodoxime suspension of 5 ml twice daily for seven days and continue Montelukast suspension daily. Montek LC is widely used for this. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her and start the medicines with their consent.
There is no harm in giving medication when there is a disease; it will not harm your child and will only remove the infecting bacteria and chemical mediators of allergy. Therefore, you can safely give these medications.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
