Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My two-year-old son is coughing all the time and has a runny nose for the past three days. I am worried more because of the prevalence of swine flu. His immunity is not good. He gets a cough and runny nose every couple of months, and he does not eat properly. He does not eat food even if he feels hungry. I have a fear that whether he has a deficiency of nutrients. He looks healthy and plays well. But he gets frequent cold and cough. Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your problem. He may have allergic rhinitis. Please use the below medications. Use syrup Allegra 0.1 fluid ounce (Fexofenadine) two times a day for five days and after five days, give him one teaspoon daily at night for another ten days. Also, give tablet Montair 4 mg (Montelukast) chewable tablet at night every day for ten days. Revert me after a week.

Regarding diet, give him two types of fruits and vegetables daily. Do not give milk in the morning. Give him breakfast daily. Include pulses, green leafy vegetables, and dry fruits in his diet. It helps to improve immunity. Do not expose him to dust, incense sticks, mosquito repellents, and perfumes. Keep him away from pets and fur toys. Do not give flavored drinks to him.

Thank you.
