Allergic Pharyngitis

Inflammation of the pharynx is frequently due to bacterial and viral infections. In immunosuppressive conditions, fungal infections too cause pharyngitis. Streptococcus bacterium is the most common cause of bacterial pharyngitis. Sore throat or pharyngitis is characterized by itching throat, throat discomfort, and pain while speaking or swallowing. These can also be accompanied by fever, headache, body pain, and fatigue. Antimicrobial therapy, drinking warm water, saltwater gargles, and pain killers are beneficial.
