Can the pubic region become pale red in color due to a mole?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My pubic region tends to look pale red quite often and stays like that for a long time. There are no other symptoms other than the color. Also, I marked a brown spot in the picture that I have attached, it is not raised but simply darker than the surrounding skin. I have a couple of those in the pubic region and wonder if it is a normal mole or something like that. What could it be?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the picture (attachment removed to protect patient's identity), it is an allergic rash (red rash) due to contact with an irritant cosmetic soap, lotion, chemical product, or possible superficial fungal infection. I suggest applying Miconazole (Miconazole Nitrate) cream twice daily for two weeks if itching occurs. In case of no itching, apply one percent Hydrocortisone cream (Cetyl Alcohol, Methylparaben) or gel at night for ten days on the red rash. Do follow the following suggestions:

1. Wash the area with Episoft cleanser or no soap cleanser daily for one month.

2. Avoid using fragrance-containing soaps or lotions.

3. Keep the area clean and dry.

4. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions.

5. Avoid friction.

The mole is normal. Nothing to worry about. Look for changes (self-observation is needed). I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
