Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 24 years of age. I had my period on two months back. I had unprotected sex at night fifteen days back and took an I-pill the next day afternoon. Again, I had unprotected sex two days later and again had an I-pill the next day morning. I know this is wrong and want to get on regular birth control as soon as possible. My periods is supposed to happen on in a week. But, I have brown discharge and light bleeding for past two days. Is this implantation bleeding? Or is this because of I-pill? I am scared that I might be pregnant.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is a possibility of pregnancy. It would be better if you get urine pregnancy test, if no period in next two days. Since it was a fertile period, there is a possibility of pregnancy. Though you had pill, 1 to 2 % possibility of contraceptive failure is there. Spotting that you got could be due to hormonal imbalance too. Get a blood test called serum B-hCG (beta human chorionic gonadotropin) to confirm pregnancy which is 100 % accurate.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The test shows positive. I want to terminate. But I still have spotting or light bleeding for four days now. Could this be a problem?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

First get an ultrasound done to see the exact location of the pregnancy. If it is in the uterus then you can terminate pregnancy. But, do it under the supervision of a gynecologist.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
