Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex with my fiance last week but with precaution. Two days later, I got my periods. Is there any chance of getting pregnant? Also, please suggest can I take I-pill now as it is just 72 hours post-sex?

Please answer.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If your due periods have come on time then there are no chances of getting pregnant. So, there is no need for I-pill. Basically, with a regular menstrual cycle, your unsafe period starts from day-8 to day-18 of your cycle.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

So you mean I am not at all pregnant and I do not require I-pill as I had my periods on time. Am I right?

Please clarify.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, If you have got your periods on time, then do not worry about pregnancy and beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is the test to confirm whether you are pregnant or not. This is the lab test.

I hope this has helped.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Usually, my periods' date is the 3rd of every month.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You had sex on day-23 of your cycle. And if your periods come on 3rd of every month then in this cycle your periods came early by eight days. So, once in a while this can happen. Do not worry.

I hope this helps you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

But still, I have taken I-pill within 72 hours. So, now there is no risk of pregnancy right?

Please answer.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Why have you not mentioned this earlier? Most likely your periods are preponed because of I-pill (Levonorgestrel) as it is progesterone. Do not worry. You might have your next periods after four to six weeks.

I hope this helps you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
