Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the sixth day of cycle and took I-pill within 24 hours. I got some withdrawal bleeding after two days. When will I get my next period? Am I pregnant?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you.

I-pill is an emergency contraceptive pill that is hormone-based. It has this effect of delaying period in certain females. The delay can be anywhere between seven to ten days. It could have been early also. So do not worry if your periods are slightly delayed. Also, please share the dates of your last two menstrual periods and cycle length. You will not get pregnant since you have taken an emergency contraceptive pill. If you are too much tensed, then please undertake a urine pregnancy test with the first urine of the day for an accurate result. Do not drink too much fluid before the test. Adhere to all guidelines written on the package of the pregnancy test kit. Do not worry; I am always there for you. I have enabled free follow-up for you. Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

God bless.
