Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old female. I was having my periods regularly, but this time my periods got delayed by six days, and the bleeding was not normal. It is like only 10 to 20 drops of blood. This is the first time I am experiencing this type of bleeding. Can you please help me to find out why this is happening? And also, I am married but still studying, so I do not want to get pregnant. My partner and I are not having sex, but recently we had oral sex. I know oral sex can not get you pregnant, but it is possible at some point, his fingers covered with precum might have entered my vagina. I do not remember if he had precum on his fingers during fingering. So is there a chance of getting pregnant? And I am not taking any medicines for anything. Please suggest something.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

As per your description, these symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance or could be due to pregnancy.

In your pelvic ultrasound, the endometrial thickness may be more due to early pregnancy. Get your blood beta-hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) level to rule out pregnancy.

If by any means, sperm enters the vagina, it may cause pregnancy.

I also suggest you get a thyroid profile and hemoglobin test.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you,

We are not ready to be parents. If I get pregnant, what should I do? Or is there a chance of me not being pregnant? Is it some PCOD symptom or hormonal imbalance?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

The chances of pregnancy are very low in your case. It is most likely due to hormonal imbalance.

But if you get pregnant, you can take abortion pills to avoid pregnancy.

Hope found this helpful.

Regards.
