Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My last period start date was the previous month, and I had unprotected sex after eight days and took a pill the next day no withdrawal bleeding and periods till now. So I went for a beta hCG blood test this month. Please tell me if I am pregnant or not, as we are not planning now.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels are less than 5 mIU (the result is 0.2 mIU) which is negative.

This confirms that you are not pregnant at all, even if you have not got your withdrawal bleed as yet after the pill.

It may sometimes happen that one may not get a withdrawal bleed if taken in the proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle ( which is the case with you).

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a regular period cycle, but I did not get my periods yet. What may be the reason?

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is a possibility that the use of a pill during the proliferative phase of your cycle is the probable cause or a more hormonal imbalance due to stress in itself can be the cause.

I suggest you get an ultrasound of the pelvis done to check for endometrial thickness to establish the cycle phase and decide whether you would require a progesterone withdrawal or would get your menses naturally.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I got my periods today but less bleeding and no cramps. Why?

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your bleeding has started indicating that you are not pregnant and safe.

The less bleeding and no cramps are likely due to this being day one of your withdrawal bleed.

You may experience increased flow and likely cramps from day two; however, to avoid the kinks, you may keep your water intake high.

Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
