Hi doctor,
I delivered a baby about seven months ago. I got my first period five months after my delivery. I had only very light periods for two days. I did a urine pregnancy test several times, and it all came negative. Today I went to the laboratory and did a urine pregnancy test, yet it was negative. I am breastfeeding my baby right now, and I have not got my period. Is this normal? Also, my beta hCG level was 0.1.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern. However, let me assure you that I am certain it is not a pregnancy you are dealing with. Are you taking any hormonal contraceptives? My advice is to get a few laboratory tests like TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) done and maybe an ultrasound. Additionally, you would also need medications for withdrawal bleeding.
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the response. I am not taking any oral contraceptives, and I am attaching my thyroid report.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Your thyroid levels are borderline high, and you will need to repeat the test after three months. After that, you can take a tablet Deviry (Medroxyprogesterone acetate) 10 mg twice a day for five days. You will then get your periods within the next seven to ten days. But do get your thyroid evaluated regardless.
Kind regards.
