Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the first day of my period, and it was my first sex, so it was not proper and did not last more than a minute. The insertion was not correct either, and no ejaculation was there. My period was alright the next day, but still, I took i-Pill, and the next day, my period stopped. It started again that night only with very light bleeding, and my period is still there after eight days with very, very light bleeding. Can you please tell me whether I am pregnant?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you.

Sperms are to be released inside the vagina to get a female pregnant. The sperm then fertilize the egg, which may or may not be available depending on the ovulation pattern of the female. The fertilized egg is then required to be implanted in the female's uterus to conceive. In your case, to be truthful, please understand that even precum has significant sperm content and can cause pregnancy.

Females do not ovulate during or immediately after periods, so there is almost zero possibility of an egg and hence no possibility of pregnancy. Further, you took an emergency contraceptive pill, and these pills are hormones based, which prevent pregnancy. Still, due to their side effects, certain females experience side effects like what you have experienced, i.e., reduced flow in periods and so on. So please do not worry you are not pregnant, and the small spotting you are experiencing is primarily due to the side effect of the pill. Do not take the stress and please ask me for any further queries.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Last month I got my periods in the first week of the month. This time also, it was in the first week only. So almost a week has passed after my periods. Till when will there be spotting? Is it acceptable to get cramps with spotting?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The prolonged spotting and cramps are primarily due to the emergency contraceptive pill that you are having. Do not worry. If you are facing any other problem apart from cramps, please let me know.

Patient's Query
