Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have chronic fissures and consulted a doctor a week ago. He prescribed me Fidonal cream (Nifedipine and Lidocaine), Lactihep syrup (Lactitol Monohydrate), and tablet Flagyl (Metronidazole). Even after using the Fidonal cream for a week, I am still experiencing pain and bleeding while pooping. Is it normal to bleed during the healing process of an anal fissure? How many days will it continue?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Anal fissures can take several weeks to heal completely, and it is common to experience some bleeding during the healing process. However, if the bleeding is severe or persistent, you should consult the doctor to rule out any complications. The Fidonal cream (Nifedipine and Lidocaine) prescribed by your doctor is to help reduce pain and inflammation associated with anal fissures, and Lactihep syrup (Lactitol Monohydrate) can help with bowel movements by softening the stool. Tablet Flagyl (Metronidazole) is prescribed to treat bacterial infections, which can sometimes cause or exacerbate anal fissures. While using the prescribed medication, it is important to maintain good hygiene and avoid any activities that could irritate the anal area, such as straining during bowel movements. You may also want to adjust your diet to include more fiber-rich foods and stay well hydrated to help soften the stool.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
