Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My father has had an itchy rectum for several weeks. He will go one day without an itchy rectum, but it comes back the following day and stay like that for several days. He has tried Hydrocortisone and Clotrimazole but still has an itch. He has a history of hemorrhoids and is taking medication for BPH.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

When is he having itching in the rectum? Is he a diabetic? Did he take alcohol?

Possible causes are like:

1. Hemorrhoids associated with phlebitis.

2. Tenia infection around the perianal region.

3. Eczema around the perianal region.

4. Secondary to ringworm infestation.

5. After intake of spicy food and alcohol.

6. Allergy to soaps or deodorant.

Still, many causes are there but need local examination and investigations to confirm the diagnosis. So please get it done stool for ova and cysts. Check total bilirubin and indirect bilirubin.

Avoid spicy food and alcohol. Use tablet Levocetirizine with Montelukast twice for five days. Use Pilex cream locally twice a day for five days. If stool shows positive for pinworm, then need deworming therapy. Also, please show to the dermatologist nearby to see any local fungal infection.

Please review with reports.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
