Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a history of ankle pain at the base of my left foot, and it causes pain when I walk. I went to physical therapy a few years back when it started, it worked for a while, but it came back a few months later. Massaging the area causes a lot of pain, and makes it more difficult to walk. I am not sure what has been causing this. I am taking Lexapro.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understood your concern. First, you stop massaging it is contraindicated. It will promote more swelling and pain. Apply ice for 10 days. Physical therapy should be continued but in the observation. Take ultrasound therapy over heel with an analgesic gel for 10 days. Ask your doctor to provide manual therapy for ankle joint for mobilization and strengthening exercises to improve the strength of muscles surrounding the ankle joint which gives more stability, and gradually the pain decreases. Continue this protocol of exercise for one month dedicatedly.

I hope this helps.

The Probable causes

Continuous overactiveness.

Investigations to be done

MMT (manual muscle testing).

Treatment plan

Ultrasound therapy.

Regarding follow up

After 15 days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
