Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got Oxazepam CF 10 mg tablet prescribed, and my doctor did not point out any risks or side effects. But, according to my friend who is a doctor, it is really risky to take this medication when one is only 18 years old. He said that there are a lot of side effects. So I really want to know what your opinion is on this medication if prescribed to a 18-year-old boy.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Are you diagnosed with anxiety? Who diagnosed you with it? Was it a psychiatrist? The drug you mentioned is used to treat anxiety and also acute alcohol withdrawal. This medication acts on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming and anti-seizure effect. It works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural substance in the body (GABA). The side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or headache may occur. So if you have an anxiety disorder or if a psychiatrist prescribes this medicine after counseling, you can use this medicine.

Take care.
