Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

I am in a relationship with a nice guy. He is loving and caring, but he does not call or text me as he used to at the beginning of the relationship. But he still cares for me a lot when I get sick or when I want him. I feel very anxious when I do not receive a call from him. I know it is unfair to expect him to call me all day. Sometimes he will fall asleep at night without saying goodnight, and I feel very angry about that. I do not tell any of these things to him. I think I am suffering from anxiety. I am a university student and want to stop thinking about him the whole day and focus on my studies. I want to ask for a solution. Previously I was in a relationship with another guy from whom I was expecting the same, but he was not very helpful, so we broke up.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Expectations and expressions of emotions and love differ from person to person. For example, some people like their partners to be more expressive, but it is not necessary that the other person would have the same level of emotional expression. At times, they do not even know what their partners expect. In this condition, I would advise you to talk to your boyfriend about your expectations, needs and wants of expressions and other things. You can also listen and understand his point of view. A healthy conversation is the basis of all relationships.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
