Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been hospitalized for excessive gas and the doctor ran a liver profile which came out normal. So, the doctor diagnosed that my excessive gas formation was due to anxiety and they prescribed Xet CR, Etizola, Clonafit, and Rabekind. I have used Etizolam for three weeks and stopped. I used Xet CR for the last six to eight weeks and Clonafit for the last two weeks. However, I still have episodes where I feel my head going numb in the back of the head. I got an X-ray and it said I have mild spondylosis. Because of the pain, I have developed a repulsion to sleeping as well and now I am completely tired during work. My doctor asked me to consult a psychiatrist. So, looking for help here.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A lot of individuals with anxiety present with symptoms of epigastric discomfort. This could present as symptoms of excessive gas formation. It is usually accompanied with symptoms like rapid heart rate, sweating, trembling of hands or body, sense of fear, feeling as if the throat is choking, etc. The cervical X-ray (attachment removed to protect patient identity) is almost normal. Mild spondylosis is seen in a lot of individuals and this usually causes slight pain in the neck. This is not the cause of the symptoms you are having. Feeling of heaviness in the neck and numbness in head is most likely part of anxiety. If there is any associated stress, then that further confirms anxiety. You have been given Paroxetine (Xet), Clonazepam and Etizolam. These are anti-anxiety drugs and help control the anxiety. If even with Xet CR your symptoms are persisting, then you can talk with your doctor to increase the dose. If you are on 12.5 mg dose then the dose can be increased to 25 mg per day. For reducing the heaviness in head, drugs like Propranolol can be used. Propranolol 10 to 20 mg in morning can help to control the symptoms and will reduce the numbness of head as well as anxiety. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
