Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have anxiety. I have chest pressure and stiffness in the back. I have a sense of hotness in my body. In the past, I have been on tablets Amitop 10 mg and Dexanil Plus. I have had whole body tests performed and the results were normal. Kindly advice on treatment.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and tried to understand your problem although it was difficult to do so because there was an inadequate description. Since you have mentioned anxiety and a few of other symptoms of anxiety, I assume that you are suffering from an anxiety disorder. The assumption is also supported by the fact that you are on medications which are helpful for an anxiety disorder. I would like to say that anxiety management is not done by medications and it is important to manage the stress by making lifestyle changes. They are the most important thing to do as nobody can take lifelong medications for management of anxiety. I am writing down a few of the strategies that will help you in the management of stress which is the cause of your anxiety. Ensure the intake of an adequate quantity of fiber. Two servings of vegetable salad and two servings of fruits (preferably citrus fruit). Proper diet rejuvenates the body. Avoid junk food and fast food especially pizza, burgers and excessive sweets. Ensure adequate water intake: Recommended intake of water is two to three liters a day. Insufficient intake of water could be a contributing factor in the causation of the symptoms. Early morning exercise: Brisk walking for 30 minutes at a stretch preferably in a garden will be very helpful. Walking is the best exercise. It also promotes the release of endorphins (naturally occurring painkillers released in the brain) which cause mood elevation and a generalized feeling of well being. There is no need to go to the gym or use any expensive workout instruments. Avoid tea, coffee, nicotine, and other alcoholic beverages: If at all you want to drink something, drink fresh lime water. It is very much refreshing. Start your day with a glass of lemon water with two spoons of honey added. Have a good breakfast. Do not take work so seriously: We all need to excel in our respective fields and we do not spend adequate time with ourselves. Spend time with your family and friends. While working, take frequent regular breaks: Taking regular breaks will not waste the time, but it will definitely increase the productivity, concentration, and reasoning. Close your eyes and rotate the eyeballs for a couple of minutes. Avoid late night socialization. Avoid staring at the computer screen or television screen for a longer time. Steam inhalation before going to sleep will be very refreshing. Meditation and yoga are very helpful. Wishing you a very happy and healthy life. Thank you.
