Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have doubts regarding indigestion, hair fall, acne and irregular and short menstrual cycles, which is lasting for the past days. Are all these interrelated? Currently, I am taking Zandu pancharishta tonic for stomach ailments and planning to go for Hempushpa or Ashokarishta for menstrual problems. Will these tonics help in providing a permanent solution? If not, please suggest me the treatment plan.

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You asked it rightly. All these problems are interrelated. Please follow my advice for three months, but you can see the result within two months.

Treatment plan

1. Ashokarishtam plus Kumaryasavam, (Ashoka, Guda, Amla) (Kumari Rasa, Haritaki, Dhataki flowers) mix two bottles together and save it. Take 1 fl oz after breakfast and dinner. 2. Shatavari gulam,(Shatavari juice extract, Jaggery, Ghee) two teaspoons at bedtime with milk. 3. Acnovin cream (Turmeric, Manjishtha, Neem, Saffron, Aloe vera) to be applied on face after washing face in warm water. 4. Dermafex soap (Haldi, Majith, Neem, Tulsi) to wash face.

Preventive measures

1. Drink 12 cups of warm or normal water every day. 2. Wash your face five to seven times a day and at least two times with warm water. 3. Avoid fast food, spicy food, pickles, chips, excessive sugar, milk products, non-vegetarian food, preserved food, carbonated drinks, deep fried food and coffee. Green tea may help. 4. Daily exercise to a minimum of 1 hour to get good sweating. 5. Control dandruff with good quality anti-dandruff shampoo. 6. Avoid day sleep and late night vigil as well, sleep early and wake up early. 7. Eat more vegetables. Eat only three times a day, but full stomach. Avoid eating in between. Meal time should be fixed and followed accordingly.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Your advice is much helpful. Please resolve the following concerns. I forgot to mention about leucorrhea. Can that problem get resolved by taking these medicines? Or is there a different medicine for that? Please tell me the brands for kumaryasavam and Shatavari gulam. Shall I stop using Zandu pancharishta? I have started taking amla juice and giloy in the morning empty stomach. I hope that will not interfere with these medicines and does not have any side effects. Should I stop taking them? As you mentioned to avoid dairy products, should I lessen the amount of intake of milk? Also, should I take Ashokarishta and Kumaryasavam together 1 fl oz or each 1 fl oz? Can I take warm lemon water? Will this three months treatment plan completely resolve all my problems?

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Following are the answers to your doubts.

The treatment already mentioned is enough to treat leucorrhea (white vaginal discharge). You must stop using Zandu pancharishta, because I do not trust commercial ones. No need of taking Pushyanug choorna. Your habit of taking amla juice in the morning is a good practice. No, you need not avoid milk. Milk is an exception. Club Ashokarishtam and Kumaryasavam together to make 1 fl oz and there is no need of mixing water. You can take warm lemon water, but without sugar. If you follow every advice diligently then it will solve all your problems.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My periods last for 2 or 3 days rather than being a normal 5-day cycle. Will Ashokarishtam help in this case? Will the medicines suggested by you help in resolving stomach ailments like mild constipation, gastric problems, slow metabolism, and digestion? If not, please suggest medicine for the above issues. Will yoga help my problem? Which asanas would make a difference? I am deficient in vitamin D and my doctor advised me to take Rebosoft 60 k one tablet every week for up to four weeks. Can I take this supplement along with the medicine suggested by you? What is the alternative treatment for this vitamin D deficiency? Which will keep vitamin D levels up to the mark, if I did not go for this supplement? Please suggest me a better supplement. Does the medicine suggested by you have side effects? Would they be increasing pitta? I always feel fatigued and tired even if I do not do any work. Please suggest a remedy for this as in to stay active. Please suggest a tip to keep pitta, vata, and kapha in balance. Also, kindly suggest a good hair oil.

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please follow my advice. The medications I suggested are enough to solve all problems.

Yes, yoga will help you. Practice surya namaskara, pavanamuktasana, kapotasana, bridge pose (setu bandhasana), butterfly (baddha konasana). You can follow the suggested supplement. Sunlight is the natural way for vitamin D. Drink lots of water as I suggested and avoid spicy food. Start with daily exercise of 30 minutes every day morning. Initial days you feel fatigued, but later you will realize your energy. Eat well, include all six tastes in your food, seasonal fruits and vegetables, more greens, drink lot of water, daily exercise for 1 hour and apply sesame oil all over body 30 minutes before taking bath to maintain pitta, vata and kapha balance. I would prefer Neelibringadi thaila(Taila, Neeli, Bringaraja) or Bhringamalakadi thaila (Bhringaraja, Amalaki, Sesame oil) for hair fall.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I got the suggested medicines. While buying Ashokarishtam, the concerned person said that this will reduce bleeding and delayed periods. Please resolve this concern and share your opinion.

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do not worry about your problem. Now, I am taking care of it. I understood your problem rightly and so, I combined Kumaryasavam and Ashokarishtam. Just start following my advice. Everything will be on track within two months, but continue the medication for three months.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Right from the last period, I am experiencing thick, sticky, cottage cheese like white discharge and mild burning while urinating, which vanishes if I increase the water intake. Is there any chance of vaginal infection? Please let me know what needs to be done to rectify this. Please suggest some natural way to get rid of this. Is there a need to go for some investigation by a gynecologist for this?

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I mentioned in my previous answers to drink a lot of water. You say that urinary irritation vanishes if you take more water shows that you are not taking enough water. Water plays a vital role in the natural healing process.

Treatment plan

1. If possible take two teaspoons of fresh aloe vera juice early morning in the empty stomach. 2. Boil 6-8 Gokshura (Tribulus) in four and a half cups of water and drink the water throughout the day. You can stop Ashokarishtam and continue all other medication.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am following your advice diligently and taking all medicine on time with lifestyle changes. But, I keep getting acne, and they are mainly happening around ovulation and before starting of periods. Is there any hormonal imbalance? I am taking medicines for the last two months, and the acne is hampering my self-esteem. Please give me a solution.

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Good to know that you are following all my advice. Yes, there is a hormonal imbalance, and hence you are getting acne. What about your general health condition? Is there any improvement in MC? If you have at least 50 % improvement in other health conditions, then please continue the same prescription with the same diet and exercises. If there is no improvement at all, then you must visit an endocrinologist. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Yes, I do observe some improvement and my general health is coming on track. I have noticed less hair fall, but I cannot say 50% or less. The most important reason that I would like to stick to your regimen or natural regimen is that it gives long-lasting results. I do not want to go for hormone therapies preferred by an endocrinologist. Please let me know how long I need to continue medicines. Is there any need to add more drugs or liver-detoxifying herbs?

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As your general health is improving slowly, your hormonal balance will come back with time. Daily exercise, discipline in food and other activities will give the desired result soon. Do not forget to wash face every two hours. If possible you can take two teaspoons of fresh aloe vera juice every morning empty stomach with two glass of water. Rest everything will be alright. Do not worry. Be confident. More you worry about your face, more problems you will develop. Keep yourself happy and enjoy every moment of life. This natural method will take time but will have a definite result.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Please let me know how long I need to continue this medication. As of now, it has been two months. Before MC, I face some PMS symptoms like mood swings, backache, nausea and bloating. Will it resolve with time once the hormonal system gets balanced? I hope there is nothing to worry. May I know a shift in menses by 2 or 3 days is considered to be normal or it should be a strict 28-day cycle.

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

A peaceful and happy mind is the key to your cure. There is nothing to worry about 2 or 3 days variation in the cycle. I especially recommend you start practicing Yoga.

Treatment plan

Learn yoga from a good yoga teacher. Surya namaskar, pranayama, pavanamuktasana, badhakonasana (butterfly asana), setu bandha sarvangasana (bridge pose), kapotasana (pigeon pose), etc., are very good. Daily exercise of 1 hour is essential to bring complete balance.

Preventive measures

Eat more green leafy vegetables and drink a lot of water.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

First of all, I am thankful for getting your replies on time and for giving me wise suggestions. This follow-up query is just feedback with a few concerns. My menses occurred on time as expected this month. But, the primary concern is after starting medications, I am noticing brown spotting and brown discharge before periods for three to four hours, and then normal bleeding begins. This has not happened earlier. Is it normal? I even noticed a blood clot. Should I require a gynecological examination? What are the signs of a healthy period? The color of the blood is light red and not as bright red. Is that normal or symbolizing some underlying problem? Also, I am experiencing painful periods with pelvic and stomach pain on the first day. I have also experienced black-colored stool for a month during the initial days of medications. Please resolve my concerns.

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since you have completed only two months with the suggested regimes, it is advised to be patient and peaceful. The hormonal imbalance will take time to become normal if once disturbed. Read all my previous advice to check whether you are following everything or not. Dark-spotted blood in the beginning and light blood later is not a reason for worry. It is good to know that your cycle is getting regular. You can go for gynecological examinations to exclude the possibility of PCOD. If PCOD is there, then diet and regimes will be the same as of now, but I may add a few medicines. Relax and focus on your day-to-day activities. Stop overthinking about your health so that you will be healthy soon.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

As suggested, I went up for a gynecological examination and had an ultrasound for lower abdomen along with some hormone tests. I had the test just a day before the beginning of the fertile window. Hereby attaching the reports. Please help me in understanding is there any possibility of pcod. Is there any imbalance in the hormonal profile? What would be the course of action from now onwards? For how long I need to continue the prescribed medicines? Is there any need for more medication based on the reports?

Answered by Dr. Santhosh M D

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your reports are normal (attachment removed to protect patient identity), and there is nothing to worry. Are you practicing yoga as I advised? Stress reduction plays a vital role in your recovery. Please follow the same for one more month; you will be alright. Be cool and cheerful. You will get well soon.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
