Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a fever and sore throat a week back. I tested RAT positive for COVID-19 the next day. Now I do not have a fever, but a slight cough is present. My wife has had a fever temperature of 101.6 degrees Fahrenheit with a cough since yesterday. However, her RAT test today is negative. She is taking ayurvedic medicine for blood pressure and thyroid every day. Is it advisable to give her a tablet Azithromycin, or should she not take a tablet Azithromycin but some other antibiotic as she is on thyroid and blood pressure medicine?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Despite negative reports, consider her as positive only. Yes, you can give tablet Azithromycin as an antibiotic.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I want to reconfirm. She is taking medicine for thyroid and BP. It was suggested here that tablet Augmentin 625 mg twice daily be taken instead of tablet Azithromycin. Is it fine to take a tablet Augmentin 625 mg twice a day or a tablet Azithromycin 500 mg once daily?

Thank you.

Hi doctor,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

She can take tablet Augmentin or tablet Azithromycin (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her, and take medicines with their consent).

Do not worry. She will be fine.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
