Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby is five months old. When she passes stool, it is very thin and smelly. She passes stool five to six times a day. This problem has been for two days. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I need to get answers to the following questions.

Does the baby have any other complaints? like fever, vomiting? If no other complaints, then you should not worry. I would suggest continuing breastfeeding. Passing stool five to six times is normal if the baby passing adequate urine and tolerating feed. You can add ORS (oral rehydration solution) to replace fluid loss due to loose motion. Usually, it is self-limiting. Do you watch the baby taking objects in the mouth which usually happens due to new tooth eruption which can lead to loose stools?

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
