Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Fever and chills in a child of age 3 years 6 months. A mild cough is also noticed. What can I do?

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Babu

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Shivering may be because of a highfever, or because of urine infection or malaria. As of now use the below medication. Syrup Crocin DS (Paracetamol) 5 ml/240 mg, 4 ml if fever greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit every sixth hourly. Sponging with lukewarm water until the fever decreases to 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Give Syrup. Meftal P 5 ml if fever not decreasing after giving Paracetamol or Crocin DS or when shivering present. For a cough, give syrup Ascoril expectorant (Bromhexine HCl, Guaiphenesin, Terbutaline HCl) 3 ml three times a day for five days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
