Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby is 22 days old. He suffered from jaundice when he was 7 days old. So, the doctor advised me to stop breastfeeding for three days. After that, breastfeeding did not fulfill his stomach so he was given powder milk a few times a day. He is passing stool more than 6 to 7 times in a day. Sometimes, it is runny, sometimes, yellow curd-like. Kindly suggest is he suffering from serious stomach problem and is it fine to give breastfeeding as well as powder milk to a baby?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A baby can pass as many times stool as they are fed. The stool can be slight curdy in nature and may vary in color from golden yellow to greenish yellow in color. You should focus more on breastfeeding your baby. But if milk output is not adequate, you may give top feed. But try to maintain utmost hygiene.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
