Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I gave Peptiran syrup to my kid of 2.9 years. But after taking it, vomiting occurred thrice within one hour of taking this syrup. Please suggest me an alternative solution.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest starting with Vomikind fast strip 4 mg (Ondansetron 4 mg) 1 strip thrice a day to be kept on the tongue only (it will be absorbed).

You can continue Peptiran (Ranitidine) after a day or so when vomiting is slightly controlled. Give ORS (oral rehydration solution) 150 ml with each vomitus. Watch for dehydration, lethargy, and refusal to feed. If there is no relief with the above or any worsening, the child will have to be evaluated physically by a pediatrician.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Initially, there was only a gas issue, but I think due to Peptiran syrup, my child got side effects of vomiting.

Can I give my child milk, or what food should I give him? He refuses everything to eat or drink.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Peptiran usually can not cause vomiting. On the contrary, it will help in resolving vomiting. Milk needs to be avoided. No processed or oily food. Home-cooked food can be given.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
